I Have Been Following All Of The Toy Recalls Closely As I Have Grandchildren, Now I Ask Why Don’t We Start
Making our own toys? As little concern as China has shown for our childrens safety how safe are the rest of the products we import from china? We were once the most industrial country in the world, lets start our factorys again and our farmers can start planting full fields of food to feed us we need to become self sufficient again. To depend on no other country for anything, Then we will controll our own economy. And our own future. NAFTA can go to hell. What do we have to lose?
We do have American made toys but people insist on shopping at WalMart where everything is super cheap and made in China (who cares about safety). Until we start buying the products that are made here no company is going to invest in any more toy companies that are located inside the United States, we have become consumers of goods instead of manufacturers of goods (this is very bad)…
Go to your favorite search engine and type in American made toys you will be shocked how many AND at reasonable prices. Also ask your congressmen for product origin on labels. NAFTA isn’t alone we have several disaster trade deals.
As good as this sounds. It’s all about the all mighty dollar. Companies will not bring factories back here for the simple fact that Americans won’t work for cheap wages like some other countries. As long as it can be made cheaper somewhere else America will continue to send our jobs overseas.
Well we could if you are willing to pay triple digits for your toys- The unions will make sure the factory line workers get paid ridiculous wages and toy prices will go through the roof…Don’t think US manufacturers won’t start cutting corners too…
As far as food production is concerned, there is no excuse for us not feeding ourselves… Who said “you can’t be a free country if you can’t feed yourselves”?
Because no one in the US wants to live in a dorm attached to a factory making $5 a day to make toys.
We would have nothing to lose doing this Sounds good to me. If anything it would probably help us in the long run. What kind of economy can sustain itself when it has to buy almost all products from other countries????
Went shopping this weekend was looking for some decor (preferrably Americana) and everything I picked up was made in China and all I kept thinking was how much lead is on this. Needless to say didn’t buy anything, will just wait for the next big craft fair and pay that little extra for American work/ craftsmanship.
For the same reason all our customer service assistance has now been outsourced to India. The big corporations, manufacturers, etc. are strictly into the bottom line. You say China has shown little concern for our children’s safety; remember who is paying them to make these defective toys. And even though there have been constant recalls, I have yet to hear a corporation say “well, we won’t deal with them anymore because they’re causing harm to our children”. In fact, I haven’t heard my United States Government say that either. And don’t we have failsafes and controls built into our trade agreements that protect our children? China may be doing an extremly shoddy job, but the fact is our own government and our companies are the ones allowing them to get away with it.
i agree with you, Let America become self reliant , where we want have to depend on the rest of the countries
It’s NOT just the toys! I recieved a couple of tools for Christmas that were made in China and they both had Lead warnings! I returned ‘em! It’s all about profit anymore! Our safety seems to mean nothing! ;-(=
because chinese work for cheap pay and that what companies like about them
